Job Title: Volunteer Literacy Tutor
Objective: To help adults improve their literacy skills so they can achieve their personal goals.
Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and read, write and speak English. (No prior teaching experience or foreign language knowledge is required.)
Training: All prospective tutors are required to complete all training sessions. The training is designed to address the specific strategies and issues relevant to adult learning and the intake process.
Time Commitment: Tutors are asked to meet with their student for two hours each week for a year.
Scheduling and Tutoring Sites: The meeting day(s), time(s) and site will be selected at the mutual convenience of both the tutor and student.
